Analysis of the Expansion Characteristics of Rural Settlements Based on Scale Growth Function in Himalayan Region

Road infrastructure is reshaping the rural settlement landscape in Himalayan area of China through construction road and strategic highway network. However, most methods based on multiple factors described spatial analysis are limited by poor response mechanisms key factors. This study provides insight into temporal process involving 15 settlements Zhada County, west Himalayas. The growth follows a “short-head S-shape” function general expansion rule. It indicates mode evolution characteristics construction. results show that 70% continue to report inertia growth, while reconstruction original site leads historical displacement under spatio-temporal compression. In addition, display organization interface area, hinterland, fringe reveal two paradigms near-road peripheral extrusion. Further, hinterland space, which core settlement, compact intensive; quarter space encompasses 45% scale. These conclusions provide guidance for delineating village boundaries improving human environment Himalayan-alpine plateau.
